HMD Global launched the Nokia 4.2 with a price tag of Rs 10,990 in the Indian market. This makes the phone to fall under quite a competitive segment in the Indian smartphone market. There are a number of good quality phones available in the same price range with numerous highlighting features from brands such as Xiaomi, Realme and Honor. These brands offer their budget phones with high-end specifications like 48-megapixel camera and better looking gradient design and then we’ve the Nokia 4.2 that fails miserably in standing out.

This doesn’t mean that the phone doesn’t offer anything good to the users. It offers a compact and premium design and comes wrapped in a glass body and a U-shaped notch called a ‘selfie notch’ by Nokia. The power button which also doubles as a notification LED is a thoughtful offering while the new ‘Pink Sand’ color adds to the look of the Nokia 4.2. On the other hand, the fingerprint sensor is way too blended with the rear panel and is the slowest of them all.

There’s a dedicated Google Assistant button on offer but will be quite useless if you don’t use it much. Also, the camera is also a drawback for the phone in terms of quality as color reproduction is bad with photos looking darker than the reality.

Talking about the performance, the smartphone is quite a struggle during multi-tasking instances like shuffling between apps. The video watching experience on Nokia 4.2 is also not exciting compared to any other phone in the same price bracket.

Though the phone takes two long hours for charging, still it offers a good battery life. The 3,000mAh battery on the Nokia 4.2 is capable of lasting a full day with tasks like streaming content, multiple app browsing, calls and others. With Android 9 Pie running on the Nokia 4.2, the software experience is also top notch. Features like ‘Adaptive Battery’, ‘Digital Wellbeing’, ‘App Actions’ and ‘Slices’ are the other highlights of the new Nokia 4.2.

So, after analyzing all the aspects, the conclusion says that there are a number of better phones available in the country in the same price range as the Nokia 4.2. Hence, if you’re planning to buy a phone in the same price range, then choose wisely.
