It has been more than a month since Xiaomi started hinting at bringing its 108-megapixel equipped camera phone to India. Various people from Xiaomi India have kept on hinting about the new phone but they never revealed the name or any other detail about the phone. However, rumours of the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 making it to India have been doing rounds on the web and after the New Year, Xiaomi has once again hinted at launching the phone soon in India.

Xiaomi’s MD Manu Kumar Jain took to Twitter to announce that the company recently completed one year of announcing the Redmi Note 7 Pro in India. The Note 7 Pro was one of the most affordable phones last year to launch with a 48-megapixel camera and Xiaomi says that it changed the game in the smartphone industry. Following that, Xiaomi asks what phone they are going to launch first in 2020.

It’s not rocket science to decode the fact that Xiaomi is looking to bring the Mi Note 10 to India soon. The reference to the 48-megapixel camera on the Redmi Note 7 Pro being a game-changer for the smartphone industry hints at Xiaomi bringing in the next level of upgrade for smartphone cameras. In 2020, all smartphone makers are gunning for the 108-megapixel camera for all phones and Xiaomi will be looking to kickstart the year by launching the much-hyped phone before every other brand.

Currently, the Mi Note 10 is the only commercial phone in Xiaomi’s lineup to come with the 108-megapixel camera. Xiaomi launched the Mi Note 10 in November of 2019 and it was the first smartphone to launch with Samsung’s 108-megapixel sensor. The phone also debuted Xiaomi’s first penta camera setup for the back. Earlier rumours suggested that Xiaomi could bring this phone to India by December but it now seems that it is launching in February.

The Redmi Note 7 Pro was launched in March 2019 in India but Xiaomi could bring its Mi Note 10 to the country by February. It makes more sense for Xiaomi to do that as Samsung is going to announce its 108-megapixel camera-equipped Galaxy S20 in February and Xiaomi could look to grab attention by launching the Mi Note 10 as an extremely affordable alternative to the supposedly premium Samsung Galaxy S20 in India.

So far, the Mi Note 10 has been rumoured to challenge the likes of OnePlus 7T and Asus 6Z. The Mi Note 10 could be Xiaomi’s most expensive smartphone for the Indian market this year, adding to the sparse Mi series of phones in the country. Xiaomi only sells the Mi A3 and Mi Mix 2 as part of the Mi series smartphones in India.
