Kabir Singh becomes the highest grossing Bollywood film of 2019 at Rs 250 crore

Latest Bollywood movie ‘Kabir Singh’ that stars Shahid Kapoor as its male lead has become the highest grossing Hindi film of 2019. 

Kabir Singh is essentially an auctioned packed drama flick, which has been consistently performing great at the box office, since its release on the 21st of June. The film is also Shahid Kapoor’s biggest solo movie which is inching closer to the whopping 250 Crore mark. 

The Hindi film has already earned Rs. 12.21 crore on its second Friday and also saw more revenue on its second Saturday with Rs. 17.10 crore. The film witnessed similar earnings on Sunday at Rs. 17.84 crores. 

The film witnessed a slight drop in its earnings on the second Monday and earned Rs. 9.07 crore, which further plummeted on Tuesday and Wednesday earning Rs. 8.31 crore and Rs. 7.53 crore, respectively. However, the Hindi flick has certainly made a great impression on the audience and has made its place in the 200 crore club.

Last week, Shahid Kapoor had posted expressing his happiness at the great success of his film and wrote about his gratefulness towards the audience for their outstanding response to the film. 

Kabir Singh continues to witness great revenues despite competition from the critically acclaimed ‘Article 15’, which stars Ayushmann Khurrana. 

Not only the film is the biggest opener for its lead actors, but it has also made a reco9rd by reaching the 200 crore mark faster than Salman Khan starrer ‘Bharat’ (on 14th day) and Vicky Kaushal starrer ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ (on 28th day).

Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the director of the original film, ‘Kabir Singh’ is the story of a quick-tempered surgeon Kabir Singh (Shahid), who when unable to marry the love of his life Preeti (Kiara), sets on a path of self-destruction with alcohol and drugs consumption. 

Kabir Singh also features Soham Majumdar, Suresh Oberoi, Arjan Bajwa, Kamini Kaushal, and Nikita Dutta and various key roles. 

Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Murad Khetani, Krishan Kumar, and Ashwin Varde, the film had released on June 21.
