Ever since OnePlus released its Dash Charging system with the OnePlus 3 a few years ago, the smartphone market has been trying hard to come up with faster ways to charge smartphone batteries. 2019 saw Xiaomi announce the 100W fast-charging system that would make it to the markets probably in 2020. Oppo has been bumping up charging speeds on its charging system, with its fastest system rated at 65W. Now, Realme also wants in a share of the pie.

Thanks to a leak from tipsters Mukul Sharma and Sudhanshu Ambhore, Realme is now known to work on its own fast-charging system that will be called SuperDart. The company has only registered the ‘SuperDart’ name for a trademark but no details of the technology behind has been shared yet. Realme has also registered the ‘Dart’ name for trademark.

While there’s no information on what technology these two names will bring, Realme could most possibly end up rebranding Oppo’s existing charging technologies for its own lineup. Realme is already looking to be a completely independent company of Oppo and it has been trying to come up with its own technologies and features for its current smartphones. Realme has evens started taking steps towards that goal by offering its phones with a different Realme UI skin on top of Oppo’s ColorOS 7.

Hence, chances are that Realme could simply rebrand Oppo’s VOOC 4.0 and Super VOOC fast charging systems as Dart and SuperDart systems. The VOOC 4.0 is a 30W fast-charging system recently seen on the Realme X2 and it can fill up the battery within an hour. The 50W SuperVOOC charging system seen on the Realme X2 Pro can fill its 4000mAh battery in 33 minutes.

Previously, OnePlus licensed Oppo’s VOOC fast charging systems as Dash and later as Warp Charging systems for its phones.

However, chances also exist of Realme developing its own fast-charging system that could go up against Xiaomi’s rumoured 66W fast-charging system that’s expected to debut later in 2020 on one of Xiaomi’s flagship phones. Xiaomi is also known to be working on a 50W fast wireless charging system and a 100W fast wired charging system.
