The excitement of the upcoming elections is spreading like a fever across different parts of the country and there is a common problem that is being noticed all over.  Inspite of being designated as registered voters by the Election Commission of India, many voters are finding that their names are not there on the list of voters. This has rendered thousands of people incapable of voting. Dome of the major reasons why names are missing from the voter list are:

  1. If you have moved to a new address within the constituency from which you are eligible as a voter to vote in an election. For this you need to visit the website nic.gov.in and download Form 8A. You can also visit the office of Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO). Forms are free of cost and are available in these offices.
  2. Your name might be missing in case you have moved to a different constituency. If this is the case, you would need to fill up the Form 6 which is easily downloadable from the website nic.gov.in. It can also be obtained from the office of Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO).
  3. In case someone wants to delete his or her name from the electoral list, one would need to fill up Form 7. This too can be downloaded or obtained from the ERO and AERO offices.
  4. You might also find that your name has been spelt wrongly in the electoral list which means you would need to fill up the form number8. This would ensure that all anomalies with the Election Commission has been cleared.

Once these processes have been completed, you would find that your name is back in its corrected form on the Voter List.
