Top 5 Indian Films & Series Releasing This Week on OTT Platforms

Last week was marked with the arrival of many exciting Indian OTT titles including several films and web series such as ‘The WhistleBlower’, ‘Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea’, ‘Kurup’, ‘420 IPC’, and ‘Decoupled’, to name a few.

Likewise, the current week too has some eagerly anticipated OTT films and web series coming up. For this article, we have collated a list of top Indian titles streaming on OTT platforms this week.

  1. Shark Tank India (Streaming on SonyLIV from 20th December)

It’s the Indian edition of the Primetime Emmy award-winning American business reality show ‘Shark Tank’. As per the show’s format, entrepreneurs pitch their business or product ideas and try to impress an expert panel of investors (sharks), who have to make a decision on whether to invest in their business plan or not.

  1. Satyamev Jayate 2 (Streaming on Amazon Prime Video from 23rd December)
    Directed by Milan Luthria, the film features Bollywood hunk John Abraham in a triple role. The plot revolves around a vigilante killer who punishes corrupt people and a tough, no-nonsense cop who is assigned a mission to track the vigilante. Who wins in this battle between two people on the opposite sides of the law albeit with the same motive – justice? Although the film received mixed reviews upon its release, John Abraham and genre fans can give it a try.
  2. Atrangi Re (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from 24th December)

A simple Tamil boy named Vishnu (played by Dhanush) is unwillingly married to a free-spirited girl Rinku (Sara Ali Khan). After the marriage, Vishnu learns that the girl is in love with a magician Sajjad (Akshay Kumar). But Rinku and Vishnu eventually take a liking for each other and now Rinku is confused about whom to choose between the two men.

  1. Minnal Murali (Streaming on Netflix from 24th December)

Set in the 90s and helmed by Basil Joseph, ‘Minnal Murali’ follows the superhero origin story of Jaison (played by Tovino Thomas), who is portrayed as a tailer from a small town in the state of Kerala. The ordinary man turns into a superhero and assumes the mantle of Minnal Murali after he is struck by a bolt of lightning, which gives him special powers like super speed, extraordinary strength, and extreme agility.

  1. Parampara (Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from 24th December)

Essentially a good vs evil story, it’s an intense family drama series that revolves around two brothers – the business tycoon Nagendra Naidu (Sarath Kumar) and his right-hand man Mohan Rao (Jagapathi Babu). How the latter’s son decides to stand up against his powerful and oppressive uncle and reveal his true nature forms the rest of the show’s plot.
