In June, 2021 a single judge rejected the decision of Air India to terminate several pilots from their services. The court also rejected the refusal of airline to accept the withdrawal of resignations of several pilots.

Delhi High Court will pronounce a judgment today regarding the pleas submitted by Air India against single judge order.

On August 13, 2020 Air India issued termination letters to several pilots. Pilots moved to High Court in the wake of it.

Reinstatement of employment status of 40 pilots terminated in 2020 was directed in the order. The move was made by the airline due to lack of business which was induced by lockdown.

The court also directed to pay back wages and allowances according to rules of Government of India.

Pilots filed their resignation last year due to continuous delay in disbursement of wages and allowances.

In its plea, Air India made an argument that once a pilot files resignation, the legal relationship between both the parties come to an end. There can be no subsequent withdrawal of resignation.

Justice Rajiv Shakdher and Justice Talwant Singh reserved an order on October 29 and verdict will be pronounced today.
